A live mix exploring some new, for me, corners of house and nu disco
On June 30th I wrapped up a month of Pride gigs plying VIVA the Sensation’s evening of entertainment called Discothique. I wanted to give myself the challenge to really understanding the assignment. I dug into deep corners of my music collection, and also sourced a bunch of new tracks to prepare to close out Viva’s show with a proper dance party. I pulled together a mix of upbeat house and nu disco, with lots of pop remixes and references. As the night went on I blended in some recent UK Garage which dialed up the bpm and the intensity. As the last dancers began to drift off the dance floor, I closed with some Amapiano remixes as a cool down. I happened to record the set, and listening back, I was pleased with how it turned out, especially given that I was working with new and different sounds, so I decided to pass it along to you for your own private dance party.
